A high fiber diet including fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grain bread and wheat or bran cereals, may be beneficial to help reduce pressure in the colon. Medication, including antibiotics are usually used to treat the infection in diverticulitis. Surgery is considered only when the symptoms are severe and do not respond to medical therapy. Below is a brief description of a currently enrolling study. If you are interested in volunteering, you can complete the questionnaire to see if you qualify for participation.
