Overactive Bladder

An overactive bladder is a condition that results from sudden involuntary contraction of the muscles in the wall of the urinary bladder. This results in sudden uncontrollable need to urinate even if the bladder is not full.  It may result in urinary incontinence where you have unintentional urination or leakage.

An overactive bladder is caused by a spasm of the bladder muscle due to a nerve or muscle problem.  There are several possible causes of an overactive bladder which includes spinal injury, stroke, Parkinson’s disease, dementia, multiple sclerosis, and diabetes. An overactive bladder may be related to a urinary track infection, bladder stones and even cancer of the bladder. Unfortunately, in many patients we never find the cause of an overactive bladder. However, it can be treated.

We do not currently have any enrolling studies for this condition. However, you may complete the form below to enter your contact information in our database and we will contact you when a study that matches your interest is scheduled.
