MEDICAL DIRECTOR, RESEARCH INVESTIGATOR
Dr. Richard A. Krause, M.D. FACG

Dr. Krause has 30 years experience as a Board Certified Gastroenterologist and Internist.  He graduated from Temple University Medical School in 1972.  He spent three years at Emory University and Grady Hospital in Internal Medicine.  One year at Yale University for a fellowship in Gastroenterology; and an additional year at University of Massachusetts for Gastroenterology.  He started private practice in Chattanooga in 1977.  He has been Chief of Medicine, and Chief of GI. And he has served on the Parkridge Medical Center Board. He has taught at the UT Family Practice Program. Dr. Krause has been in Clinical research since 1987 and the Medical Director of Clinsearch  since 1992.

Rhonda Bovine



CLINICAL DIRECTOR, SUB-INVESTIGATOR
Rhonda Bovine, APN, FNP

Rhonda Bovine joined ClinSearch in 2008 as our NursePractitioner and is a certified Advanced Practice Nurse (American Nurses Credentialing Center).   After getting her BSN from the University of Tennessee at Memphis, she went on to complete an MSN with a concentration in the Family Nurse Practitioner program at the University of Alabama, Huntsville. Ms. Bovine's long experience includes stints in the diverse areas of women's health, public health, primary care and college health.  Local students may recognize her as the former Director of Student Health Service at the University of Tennesse Chattanooga. She is also a member of Chattanooga Area Nurses in Advanced Practice.

Dr. Austin

RESEARCH SUB-INVESTIGATOR
Dr. Steven K. Austin, M.D. , P.C.

Dr. Austin has been practicing cardiology in Chattanooga since 1997.  Dr. Austin received his Medical Degree from the University of Tennessee, Memphis where he also completed his Residency (Chief Resident).  A Cardiology Fellowship followed at the Medical University of South Carolina, Charleston.  Dr. Austin was Board Certified in Internal Medicine in 1994 and Cardiology in 1997.   He began in group practice in 1997 and private practice in 2001.

Dr. DiStefano

RESEARCH SUB-INVESTIGATOR
Dr. Deborah R. DiStefano, M.D.


Dr. Distefano is one Chattanooga's best known physicians.  She first came to the area in 1982 as chairperson of the Department of Ophthamology at University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.  She completed her Medical Degree, Internship and Residency (Chief Resident) at the Medical College of Wisconsin. Dr. DiStefano completed her fellowship at Harvard in 1982.  Dr. DiStefano has numerous publications and awards to her credit.  In 2004 she founded a charitable organization that helps families with with monetary support while undergoing treatment for cancer.  She is currently the owner of DiStefano Regional Eye Center.

RESEARCH SUB-INVESTIGATOR
Dr. Stephen DePasquale M. D.

Dr. DePasquale is originally from upstate NY, he moved to the Tennessee region for the warmer weather and the great outdoors.  Dr. DePasquale did his undergraduate work at Albany College of Pharmacy.  He received his Bachelor of Pharmacy degree in 1988.  He graduated from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in 1993.  He completed four years of residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia in 1997. 

 

From 1997 to 2001 he was a fellow in Gynecologic Oncology at Brown Medical School, Women and Infants Hospital in Providence Rhode Island. After completing fellowship he moved to Chattanooga Tennessee.  Currently he is Board certified by the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology in both Obstetrics and Gynecology and Gynecologic Oncology.  

 

He is also a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.  He is an Associate Professor at the University of Tennessee, in the Division of Gynecologic Oncology in Chattanooga at Erlanger Medical Center. He sees patients at Memorial Medical Center and Parkridge Medical Center.

 

He specializes in Gynecologic Oncology; starting in 2003 he has helped explore the utility of robotic surgery.  The daVinci laparoscopic Robotic Instrument was approved by the FDA in 2000.  Dr. DePasquale was one of the first Gynecologic Oncologist in the Region to utilize this new tool.  Today Dr. DePasquale performs many complex procedures with the laparoscopic robotic instrument including surgery for endometrial, cervical and ovarian cancer, making him one of a select few now offering this to patients on a regular basis.

 

Dr. DePasquale participates in clinical research through Tennessee Gynecologic Oncology Group as well as national cooperative groups and pharmaceutical companies.

Dr. Gandhi

RESEARCH SUB-INVESTIGATOR
Dr. Jitendra Gandhi

Dr. Jitendra Gandhi of Associates in Oncology and Hematology has a thriving practice located at 2205 McCallie Avenue with his wife, Dr. Vaishali Doshi.  He attended medical school at Seth G.S. Medical College, Bombay University in Bombay, India.  He did his Internal Medicine residency at Worchester City Hospital (an affiliate of the University of Massachusetts Medical Center) where he was chief resident.  He later completed a fellowship in Hematology/Oncology at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center in Worcester, Mass. 

Dr. Gandhi has a wealth of oncology research experience  with an emphasis on lung cancer, lymphoma, breast cancer and multiple myeloma.

Dr. McKenzie

Dr. Mark M. McKenzie, M.D


Dr. McKenzie has been practicing Internal Medicine in Southeast Tennessee and the Chattanooga area since 2002. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Biology Degree from Southern Adventist University in 1991. After spending 4 years working as a Medical Technologist, he decided to study medicine. He completed Medical School and Residency at the Medical College of Ohio at the University of Toledo in 2002. He recently left group practice to start The McKenzie Center for Internal Medicine.

Dr. Pomerance


RESEARCH SUB-INVESTIGATOR
Dr. Glenn N. Pomerance, M.D. 

As an Ophthalmologist, Dr. Pomerance diagnoses and treats all disorders of the eye.  He specializes in cataract and refractive surgery.   He recently received the Alcon Centurion Award for outstanding LASIK procedures.

Dr. Pomerance  graduated from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Columbia University and completed an internship in surgery and a residency in Ophthalmology at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C., where he served as Chief Resident.  Dr. Pomerance holds staff privileges at most area medical centers and is a member of many national, state and local medical societies.

Dr. Pomerance has participated in numerous clinical research efforts, including Contrast Sensitivity Testing as a measure of efficacy in treatment of glaucoma and macular degeneration and pharmaceutical testing including those for dry eyes, anti-infectives and anti-inflammatories.

Dr. Sadowitz

Dr. Richard Sadowitz, M.D.

Dr. Richard Sadowitz has been practicing Gastroenterology in Chattanooga, TN since 1994. He is Board Certified in Gastroenterology. Dr. Sadowitz received his bachelor's degree from the University of Florida, at Gainesville and his doctorate from the University of Miami School of Medicine. He completed an internship and residency in internal medicine at Northwestern University in Evanston, IL. Dr. Sadowitz completed a fellowship in Digestive Diseases at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey in Newark, New Jersey.

Dr. Sadowitz' scope of practice includes, but is not limited to, Upper Endoscopy, ERCP, Capsule Endoscopy, Colonoscopy, Liver Diseases, Infrared Coagulation for the Treatment of Hemorrhoids and Irritable Bowel Syndrome.

Dr. Smith completed his medical studies at Medical College of Georgia in Augusta in 1988.  Internship and Residency followed at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis, then a fellowship at  the Medical College of Georgia, Augusta in Pulmonary Disease/ Critical Care Medicine and extended training in Sleep Medicine.  Dr. Smith is Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Disease, Critical Care Medicine ands Sleep Medicine.

Dr. Vernon

RESEARCH SUB-INVESTIGATOR
Dr. Andrew Norbert Vernon, M.D.


Dr. Vernon completed his Medical Degree at the University of Oklahoma Medical School in Oklahoma City.  There followed his Internship and Residency at the Oklahoma Health Sciences Center in Oklahoma City,   After an academic apointment to the University if Oklahoma, Tulsa Medical Center he completed a Fellowship in Pulmonary / Critical Care at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Cleveland Ohio.  Dr. Vernon located to Chattanooga in 1993.  Since 2007 He has been with Specialists in Pulmonary, Critical Are and Sleep Medicine PLLC.
