Teresa Deese, APRN

Sub-Investigator

Terry Deese joined the research team in October 2018 as a sub-investigator. She has 35 years of experience in nursing. She moved from Louisiana where she practiced as a nurse practitioner (NP) for 16 years in internal medicine and walk-in clinics. Terry maintains her NP certification with the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) and has completed the Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) program.




Misti Earwood, CMA

Clinical Research Assistant

Misti is a certified medical assistant and has 14 years of medical experience in internal medicine. She obtained her associate’s degree in 2003. Misti joined ClinSearch in January 2018 as a research assistant, and currently resides in Benton, TN.




Gisela Heintz, LPN

Clinical Research Assistant

Gisela joined ClinSearch in January 2018 with over 15 years of medical experience in the Cleveland/Chattanooga region. Gisela is a licensed practical nurse and is certified in IATA, CITI and CPR.




Elizabeth Michael

Patient Recruitment

Elizabeth is a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant, and is certified through NHA. Elizabeth graduated from MMTC. She is also certified in CPR, BLS, First Aid and CITI. Elizabeth joined ClinSearch in July 2019.




Erica Osmundsen, CCRC

Clinical Research Coordinator

Curriculum Vitae - 

Erica joined ClinSearch in 2012, bringing with her over 15 years of prior experience in clinical research. She got her start in the field by working as a research assistant at the Psychiatric Hospital at Vanderbilt as an undergraduate student. Afterward, she became a clinical research coordinator at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, and then managed national and international patient recruitment campaigns for a specialty CRO. Erica is an ACRP certified clinical research coordinator, is CPR certified and has completed trainings in CITI, OSHA, and multiple condition-specific rating scales and assessments. Her research study experience includes IBS, gout, acne, FD, diabetes, COPD, MDD, women’s health, vaccines and schizophrenia.




Christy Schmeck, CMA, CCRC

Senior Clinical Research Coordinator

Curriculum Vitae - 

Christy Schmeck is a certified clinical research coordinator. She started with ClinSearch in September 2009 as a laboratory technician.  She was promoted to the coordinator position in September 2011. Christy achieved her ACRP certification in September 2012. She has a strong clinical trial background in celiac disease, irritable bowel syndrome, and diabetes.  Christy previously worked as a certified medical assistant in family medicine/gynecology for 8 years. She is a certified first responder and currently carries certifications for IATA, OSHA, and CITI. Christy has been ClinSearch’s OSHA Compliance Officer since 2009.




Catherine Schon, MS, CCRC

Clinical Research Coordinator

Curriculum Vitae - 

Catherine joined ClinSearch in 2016 after working as a research scientist and coordinator at New York University, College of Dentistry. She has over 15 years of research experience, with more than six years in clinical research. Catherine obtained a Master of Science degree in microbiology at Oregon Health & Science University in 2008 and has been ACRP certified as a clinical research coordinator since 2015. Catherine has a research background in molecular microbiology and immunology, with a clinical interest in gastrointestinal health and disease. Catherine maintains trainings in CITI HSR and GCP, BLS-CPR, HIPAA, OSHA, and IATA.




Angie McElveen, CCMA

Patient Recruitment

Angie is a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA), and is a graduate of MMTC in both medical assisting and billing and coding.  Angie is also certified in BLS and First Aid. She has a diverse background in the medical field, working in primary care and internal medicine, as well as working over 20 years in an administrative capacity in a variety of fields including 15 years in human resources.




Lilian Nukuna, LPN

Patient Recruitment

Lilian joined ClinSearch with 20 years of experience in nursing. She is licensed as an LPN in Tennessee, and has worked in many settings as an LPN, including hospitals, home health care and long-term care. Lilian obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Allied Health Management from UTC in 2007. After that, she worked as the Director of Nursing Services at Carestone Assisted Living in Chattanooga. In January of 2019, she obtained her Master’s degree in Clinical Research Administration from Walden University. This is Lilian’s first job in the clinical research industry, and she is excited to make a rewarding, second career out of it. She recently completed the CITI program, and she also holds an NIH certification in Human Research Studies.
