Eczema (Atopic Dermatitis)

Posted on February 22, 2018

Eczema (atopic dermatitis) is a common skin condition that causes dry, red, itchy, flaky skin. These symptoms will often lead to infection causing small blisters to form that may ooze or crust over.  The severity of eczema depends upon how large an area of the skin is affected.  The more common places for eczema to appear are the face, neck, legs, arms, and scalp. Over the counter moisturizers will not relieve the most severe cases of eczema.

While there is no exact cause of eczema, people who suffer with this skin condition often have a family history of allergies such as hay fever. Eczema is thought to be a type of allergic reaction. Factors such as temperature change, food, harsh soaps, sweat, and stress can all cause eczema to flare up. There is no cure for eczema however there are treatment options available.

ClinSearch is currently enrolling volunteers for a clinical study testing the safety and effectiveness of an investigational consumer product for atopic dermatitis (eczema).
